A retrofit is when you need to add (or change) a physical component to the vehicle and then enable the new functionality with an activation process.
An activation is when your vehicle already has the underlying physical components present. The activation process simply awakens the suppressed optional extra.
You would need to make your own enquiries with your warranty providers as they would be best suited to answer that question.
Our view is that we only use genuine parts and dealership diagnostics to carry out our retrofits and activations. The manufacturers state on the warranty page of their website that to void a warranty you would need to make a modification that is not within their specifications and we only stick to modifications that are within their specifications.
This could also prove to be a double-edged sword as if you enquire with your warranty provider about potential retrofits, you would also be making them aware of your situation so they might now pay closer attention to your vehicle.
Ultimately, it would be a decision for you to make based on your own enquiries and the information provided above. All we can say is that we have had zero warranty rejections. Customers have provided us feedback that they've successfully claimed multiple times on their warranty and had no issues when going back for services.
No, all of our retrofit and activation services require the correct configuration and/or programming changes.
No, activations are not removed by SOTA (Software Over The Air).
It is very unlikely that your average service technician would be able to pick up any activations or Power Upgrades.
A higher level engineer/technician from HQ would be able to see this but they would have to go out of their way to find this. They would also have to have a reason to be doing this.
Our work is mostly traceless. No DTCs (fault codes) are set due to our work.
No, we do not offer a "bring-your-own parts" type of service.
We are not a parts supplier. We only supply services.
Unfortunately all of our retrofits require programming so even if you were to source the parts yourself and fit them, it wouldn't work.
We'd still very much like to help you. We are on occasion able to offer you the ability to bring your vehicle to Essex to have the work carried out on your vehicle.
Please note that this service is by discretion and is limited only to activations, not retrofits.
Unfortunately we would not look to work on your vehicle if it has had previous work carried out to it, either by enthusiasts or "others".
Doing this will not speed up the reply process. In fact, it might even have the exact opposite effect. Please send one email and wait patiently for a response. We are very busy working on customers vehicles throughout the day so email responses are generally written up afterhours and scheduled to be sent within business hours.
No, you can purchase the vehicle based on its current merits. Anything after that should not be implied by the fact we're offering retrofit and activation services. Please do not count on us as a guarantee that we'll be able to offer you something that the vehicle is missing. We do not make guarantees on anything. We only try our utmost to offer you the best possible outcome.
